About KRAZE

Kraze is an all-girl Pakistani pop rock band. The two main members of Kraze, Ambreen and Savera, who write and compose most of the songs. Their compositions are a blend of ethnic pop, rock and techno, while still maintaining Pakistani roots. The music Kraze creates is unique and charming, as it blends many different styles of music. Their unique style of composing makes for an intelligent and entertaining mix. Kraze is in a class of its own, as it is the first all-girl Pakistani band. Ambreen, with her dynamic and powerful vocals can entice audience of all ages and music backgrounds. Savera, while still just a teenager, is the first Pakistani female rock guitar virtuoso.

Ambreen and Savera grew up in the musical influence of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, A.R. Rahman, Alam Lohar, Shehzad Roy, Abida Parveen, Vital Signs, Junoon, and many more. They had only been enlightened to the musical greatness of the Eastern world. In 1999, they left the world that still beats in their hearts and moved from Lahore to the Michigan, U.S. The five prayers that rang throughout the city, the delicious finger-licking good food, the familiar faces of their friends and families; good or bad they missed it all.

Home sick and heavy hearted, they pursued music that soothed them and brought back their peace of mind. Ambreen sat on the front porch of their new cold residence and sang along the voice of Alam Lohar, “Bhol miti deya baveya… teray dhukan nay…” and tears started streaming down her face. The song that spoke of her country’s soil brought tears to Savera’s eyes who sat next to her. As Ambreen’s mournful voice thickened the atmosphere with its melancholic aura, it could not have been clearer that their lives had changed eternally.

The Western world’s musical shadow cast upon them with the tunes of Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, U2, Police, Bob Marley, Kanye West, John Mayer, and Techno/trance beats which enlightened them. The fusion of East and West influenced a new blended identity for their band Kraze. The band earning the title of first all girl Pakistani band, performed many venues with their members. The band originally consisted of a bassist, electric guitarist, lead vocals, and a percussionist. Ambreen and Savera have a whole new scene now, intimate and beautiful duet of vocals, harmonies, guitar and exotic blend of East and West.

SAVERA

Savera is the lead-guitarist for the band. She was born in Lahore in October 1988. At the age of 10, she came to United States along with her family and knew her life had changed forever, but had no idea that she would be a guitarist of Kraze. She graduated from High school in June 2006, and is now attending college. On her 14th birthday, she received an electric guitar as a birthday present; she instantly fell in love with the instrument. From then on, it was Savera and her guitar. She is a very quick learner as she learned many techniques in a short period of time. She may well be the best female guitarist of Pakistan. She is a talented songwriter and has written many songs in the album.
Savera: .

Savera: For me music is an escape from the real world. A place where one can forget their worries and be part of something bigger. Playing music is an emotional release, a form of expression, where you can reduce stress. When you can’t just say the words and have them mean anything, you sing them and it takes it to a whole new level, whether talking about love, hope, war, having fun or just sadness and loneliness. Other than song writing and playing guitar, my hobbies include drawing, playing tennis, watching movies. I am very excited for our first album.

 AMBREEN

Ambreen is the lead Singer for the band. She was born in Karachi on September 1985. She attended school in Lahore where she grew up. At the age of 13, she came to United States with her family, where now she is pursuing her studies. As a young child, she was very bright and had big plans for the future. She also had a keen interest in singing and loved music. It was not until she came to United States that she and her sister started the band Kraze. She is the leader of the band and under her enthusiastic and dedicated management, Kraze has come this far. Other than her band, her hobbies include writing poetry, watching movies, creating web pages, editing videos, and photography.

Ambreen: I really enjoy singing. For me living without music is like living without water. It is essential for one’s soul and for the peace of mind. Everywhere around us we are surrounded by music like beat of our hearts, music is within us. So I realized, I loved music so much I wanted to make it a part of my life. Working on Kraze’s first album has been a learning experience and a lot of fun.
